As mentioned last month, this month’s newsletter is arriving early, because my GG (Gorgeous Guy) and I are heading to New Zealand on Saturday 18th for a couple of weeks, we have had our flights booked for ages and have finally booked accommodation for when we land in Wellington, the Ferry trip to the South Island and a hire car – then we’re just winging it! We are looking forward to seeing Dunedin and Queenstown and who knows what we’ll see while there.

My big news this month is that my book Christian to Clairvoyant was a finalist in the Beverly Hills 2015 Book Awards in the USA! They have a winner and one finalist – I was bouncing around on my chair I was so excited when I was told! If you would like to purchase my book, you may do so through either my website www.katrina-jane.com (for Australian residents only) or through Amazon.com. My children’s book is available through the kindle version only at this stage – my publisher is still trying to find a printer that isn’t going to cost the earth, so hopefully not too long away!

On Sunday, 12th April I was the guest speaker at the Central Coast Spiritualist church – I do love going down there and doing a talk! They are a great group of people and I will be back there again a bit later in the year.

I’m doing a fundraiser that will be at Cessnock – this is for cancer research – and is actually already booked out! I will be doing a talk and then going around and giving people a reading, it will be a lovely small group and I’m really looking forward to doing this and a big thank you to Anthony Burke for organsing it and inviting me along.

My ongoing commitment to the Westpac Rescue Helicopter High Tea at both Terrigal and also Magenta shores will also be taking place this year – the first is on Sunday, 24th May at Magenta Shores and then later on in the year, I will be at the Crowne Place, Terrigal for their high tea there – I charge $5 for 5 minutes and 100% goes to the Westpac Rescue Helicopter, I donate all of my time to all of the charities I work with, I have never nor will I ever charge a ‘performance fee’.

With April on our doorstep, here in Australia we will be thinking of Mother’s Day gifts, so for the hard to buy for here are some ideas :-

• A gift voucher from me for a ½ hour reading – this may be purchased through my website www.katrina-jane.com
• Purchase my book and have a personal message written to mum in the cover – again through my website www.katrina-jane.com
• If mum is a pet lover – have David draw her favourite pet – he’s absolutely amazing! You can contact David at isketch@bigpond.net.au and check out his amazing talent at www.houseportraits.com.au
• Have an astrology reading done with Michelle Oberdorf (Michelle does the astrology in this newsletter and her details may be found there.
• If mum is a garden lover – get in contact with Sue Kohl and get some ideas for organic and permaculture gardening from her – Sue’s details will be found at the bottom of her contribution this month about Calendula.

It’s never too late …….to know yourself
We all think that we know ourselves, but do we really? We know things about ourselves that nobody else does but are we honest enough? Wisdom and honesty comes from accepting our imperfections and understand how we really tick, what we need as opposed to what we want. The more we know ourselves and are honest with ourselves the more freedom we have.

May Crystal by Katrina-Jane

If you were born in the month of May, certain gem stones have more vibrational power and healing for you than other stones because they are associated with the time of your birth. Over the centuries there have been numerous traditions connected to a particular gemstone so therefore, you may have more than one stone for your month.
May stones may be either Emerald, Agate, Chrysoprase – I am going to touch on Agate for you this month.
This is THE stone for protection. The agate is actually one of the oldest stones recorded in history.
Agates attract strength and can be used as a protection from bad dreams. It also protects from stress and energy drains. Agate is used for stomach upsets. Place the agate on the solar plexus. The agate can’t change emotions, but helps to change our level of acceptance of the emotion. Such as when you are very sad the agate will let you know that this will pass and help you get on to another and better day. This is why the Agate is considered so powerful as it gives us the strength to carry on. Carry an agate when you have to make an important decision
Astrological Overview for May 2015 by Michelle Oberdorf:
This forecast is based on your Sun sign, but if you know your Moon and Rising (Ascendant) signs please read them as well for further insight.

The news this month is that Mercury, planet of communication, goes retrograde (appears to go backwards in the sky) for 3 weeks on May 18 until June 10 in its home sign of Gemini so reflect upon your ideas and your thought patterns during this phase. On May 13 Mars moves into Gemini and joins Mercury, so its not a good time to make impulsive or rash decisions, or to speak before you think. There may be mis-communications during this time as well with technology and transportation. It would be good for everyone to relax, write in our journals and generally take time out from being mentally busy.

A message from Amaterasu through Nathan Ho

“Upon this part of the journey, it calls for you to retreat from the world. Not in the sense of isolating yourself to shut yourself and others out, but rather it is your time to introspect to see which parts of you can be transformed. It is through your journey into the darkness which you find the light, for you realise and gather yourself in different ways that expand your horizons and give you a new vantage point to look at life from. As you shine brightly in your own self-created Heaven, you take yourself out of your self-created Hell, in the sense of your input and your choice being the governing factors in whether you enjoy your life or not. Although the times of being introspective may seem like you are heading towards a depression, change your perspective, and look at it as your contemplation time, your strength and energy building time. It is through this process that you rejuvenate yourself in body, mind and spirit. Just as the sun rises, the sun also sets, so allow yourself to go with the flows of what is naturally occurring in your life. There is no need to be harsh upon yourself, for what happens in nature happens as it does, so it is the same with you and your management of your wellbeing. Awaken to the possibility of a new day each day, for the past is over, yesterday is gone, and today is a new beginning. Arise and illuminate. Open up to the possibilities that are offered through a fresh look at different things in your life. Journey inward and outward to see where you can make an offering to the world and to those around you, bringing your light to the planet, like a candle to the flame. Shine brightly and let your example inspire others and light the way for their journey too.”

Calendula by Susan Kohl
Calendula is known as a Pot Marigold or just plain old Marigold in the UK, it originated out of the Mediterranean region, south western Asia, and Western Europe Macaronesia. Throughout history the Calendula has been used in ceremonies and rituals. The Greeks and Romans used the golden Calendula in their crowns and made garland from the flower. The Calendula is a sacred flower of Indian and has and is used to decorate the statues of Hindu deities over the centuries. Many Catholic countries have used them in their own rituals and ceremonies.
It is both an annual or biennial branching plant with plump green leaves that can grow 5 – 15 cm long and are covered in minute hairs. There are is up to 20 species of the Calendula that belong to the daisy family – Asteraceae. This plant can have single or double open, daisy- like flowers and the colour can range from yellow to orange. This is not to be confused with hybridised Calendula with huge heads multiple heads. These plants will tolerate most soils but a loamy soil is better for this plant. You can collect the flowers and leaves all year round, in the warmer weather flowers need to be picked every second day and only occasionally in the cooler climates. Always collect flowers just as they open and as I always instruct dry on gauze, out of direct sunlight. You can purchase bulk flowers from Herbalist or Health food stores. Always ensure good quality by checking the brightness of the flowers and their distinct odour. If you note the colour is dull and the odour in not pungent please don’t purchase them as they are too old and will not have the properties you are seeking.
Calendula species have traditionally been used in cooking and in medicine. The edible petals are wonderful in salads, they can be dried and used to colour cheeses and can be used as a replacement for saffron. A yellow dyed can be extracted from the flower s. You can find out how to make a natural dye at the following website. http://www.prairiefibers.com/Dyeing%20Notes.htm
It has been noted that Calendula has many medically properties, containing flavonol glycosides, oleanane type triterpene glycosides, triterpene oligoglycosides, sesquiterpene glucoside and saponins. The plant is still used medicinally and the oil has anti-inflammatory use, and is used to heal wounds. Calendula when made into a tincture can be used topically for the treatment of acne, and can be used for reducing inflammation, healing burns, to stop bleeding, clean up abscesses such as bed sores and even athletes foot when applied twice daily. An ointment is effective for the treatment of dermatitis, blisters, burns and scalds. You can also make oil, ointments or creams for the external use on Haemorrhoids. It is also very effective for the use of painful and irregular periods. Drink the infusion regularly for irregular periods, if experiencing pain, make a strong infusion and take 1 tablespoon every 1 – 2 hours. Using a strong infusion you can make a hot compression by soaking the cloth in the infusion and wrapping it in a hot water bottle and apply it hot to the abdomen. This plant has many applications that cannot be cover in this one newsletter but if you would like to know more please contact me.

PARTIES for a big group – hens’ day, baby showers – this is where everyone has as 15 minute reading – this is lots of fun for baby showers, birthdays, hens nights etc. and it is $25 per reading these readings are not recorded because there are usually too many people and it just takes up too much time, but I am able to take notes or the person having the reading can take them if they wish, I am also happy for them to record on their phones.

GROUP OF FRIENDS – I have had numerous enquiries about parties and how many people you need to host one. It obviously depends on where you live – if you live about an hour from Newcastle CBD, I would need a minimum of 8 people having 15 minute readings ($25 each) if you want to have ½ hour readings ($50 each) then a minimum of 4 and a maximum of 8 people would be appreciated. If you live within a 2 – 2.5 hour drive, then a fee of $50+ to cover travel costs will be required, depending on how far you are away. And it would be a minimum of 6 x ½ hour readings and a maximum of 8. I am also okay with a mix of readings as in some having ½ hour and others 15 minutes. These are all recorded and emailed to you within 24 hours.

TYPES OF READINGS –
EMAILED – this allows you to ask 6 one topic questions – $50
ONE QUESTION – this is a one question, one topic reading – $10

BABY READING – This is for the new member of the family, a general one page reading giving an outline of their personality, areas of interest and things they may achieve and also some hints in regards to the more negative aspects of their personality and how to understand them.
