Welcome to 2012!  Another year is ahead of us and as we all know, now is the time when resolutions are made.

It’s a time when we decide the things that we want to do or achieve and succeed in doing it for about a month and then it all falls in a heap and we end up beating ourselves up that we didn’t stick to our goals!

How about trying something that may sound simple but in reality, can be quite difficult?

Let’s all try to be a little kinder to ourselves, don’t beat ourselves up when we make a mistake, for there are no things as mistakes, everything is a learning curve for us and us only, on our journey’s in this life.  And in being kinder to ourselves, giving ourselves encouragement, letting ourselves be happy, we’ll be able to be a little kinder to others, a little more tolerant and wouldn’t that make the world a better place?

Try and do one kindness per day, whether for yourself or others.  For instance, help an elderly person cross the road or something like that.  I was in the coffee shop the other day, ducking out between readings for my caffeine fix, when the lady being served before me didn’t have enough cash to pay for her purchase, she wanted to use her EFTPOS card but the purchase was under $10 – so I handed over the $2.80 and said, have a happy New Year.  She was so thankful, and it made me feel good too!  I hope that my actions made her feel better for that day and then that would have rubbed off on whomever she was with.  It’s a chain reaction this thing called kindness.

As His Holiness the Dalai Lama has said: –

Love and compassion are necessities, not luxuries.  Without them humanity cannot survive
