Learning to delegate
So many of us have a hard time delegating. Now that can be down to a number of factors, but for many of us we have been conditioned to think that hard work will justify who we are, that we equate success with struggle so therefore, we take on more and more and never seem to say no. We don’t want to be thought of as a ‘bad’ person by others for saying no.
When we say ‘no’ we are telling the other person that our time is important, in fact, it is just as important as their time, yet have you ever wondered why they quite easily shove their jobs / tasks / emotions onto you?
Because you allow it.
You have turned yourself into a dumping ground for others because you don’t value yourself enough. It is perfectly alright to say, ‘sorry but I just don’t have the time to do / listen to this’. Don’t worry about what the person thinks, that’s not your problem, however what is your problem is being able to cope each day with the tasks that YOU need to do, by allowing yourself the priority to be you, to put yourself first.
For you to be successful you need to be achieving what you want to be achieving, if you feel you’ve taken on too much, then tweak the tasks that you have set yourself so that they are at a standard that you can achieve.
Give yourself a break – you deserve it.
