March 2014 Newsletter
I must certainly be getting older because time seems to go by so fast, I remember summer school holidays in Wagga Wagga, NSW that seemed to go on forever and here we are looking at the beginning of Autumn!
I know I say it every year but it is my favourite time of year, I love the leaves changing colour and unfortunately living in a city you don’t see it as beautifully as you do in the country, with the liquid amber trees and maples turning magnificent shades of red, orange and yellow – it is beautiful to see. I love the crisp morning air but the warm days.
With the extremes of weather around the world, mother nature is doing her best to make us wake up I do feel. The horrendous flooding and storms in Great Britain to the snow storms still happening in the United States to our poor drought affected farmers here in Australia, my thoughts are with everyone who is suffering through these extremes in our weather.
As mentioned last month, I am hoping to hold a WEEKEND SPIRITUAL RETREAT the first one is to be held on Friday, 28th March through to the Sunday, 30th March at beautiful Fingal Bay in the Port Stephens area.
If I don’t get numbers it will be cancelled by the end of February – to hopefully, allow me to get my deposit back.
The second will be held on Friday, 5th September through to the Sunday, 7th September the cost is $440 per person and includes:
• accommodation for 2 nights;
• 6 healthy meals as well as snacks and morning and afternoon tea (OK chocolate isn’t healthy but I’m sure it’s one of the recommended daily foods!!!!)
• A ½ hour one on one personal reading with me, which will be recorded and emailed to you.

• Three guided meditations

• You will have free time to just chill out and relax or go for a walk along the beach.
If you are interested in coming along and meeting like-minded people:-
Please email me Katrina@katrina-jane.com to make sure that there is a vacancy. More information can be found on my website www.katrina-jane.com – under Workshops.
If I don’t have the numbers to be able to run this retreat by the end of February, it will be cancelled and for those that have paid, a full refund will be issued.
PAGAN FESTIVAL – Mabon
On March 20th in the southern hemisphere is the time to celebrate Mabon, this is the autumn equinox which is when both day and night are of equal length and everything is in balance. It is a celebration about giving thanks for the bounty that you have created in your life and also take a moment to grieve for the little deaths we all must endure. Have a think about what has come into your life over the past year, a new child, a relationship, perhaps a new house or you may have completed study. You have to honour the achievements that you have made, regardless of how small and also acknowledge the effort that you have put into achieving them, allowing you to move forward.
Mabon is a time to set goals for the future, clean out your fridge, repair anything broken, if you’re into cooking, making jams and preserves for the coming winter months, get rid of any old herbs and medicines. Think of it as a reverse of a spring clean – you’re getting the home snug and ready for the winter months.
If you like to partake in rituals cover your altar with beautiful autumn foods and seeds and write down the things that you have accomplished over the past year, the things that you are proud of or even some things that have meant closure to you and then bury the list in the garden somewhere – it’s nice to write the items on autumn leaves! This is a time to think about getting more balance in your life and setting the goals to achieve it.
It’s Never too late to …… Smile
A smile takes less muscles to use than a frown, there is no effort at all needed to smile at someone yet when you do it has so many benefits, it lights up our own faces and the space you are in and it usually causes a ripple effect that the person smiles back and then they are feeling good and hopefully, they then smile at a stranger as they walk along. Putting a smile on your face when you have to talk on the phone puts a different energy into your voice. It’s not hard to do so go ahead and smile a lot more often.
Feng Shui – Basics
I bring to my newsletters some little bits and pieces of Feng Shui, which is pronounced Foong Schway, you can always go to my website to read my previous newsletters.
Each month we have been touching on the Celestial Cures, which are just ways to adjust the qi life energy flowing through your home and garden.
This month it’s the Sixth Celestial Cure – which is plants and flowers. If you have a staircase in your home putting a great plant under it helps healthy qi life energy to rise up to the next floor. The same for your office space, if it’s feeling a little dull and stale add a green plant and you’ll start to feel better. Round leaf plants are better than pointy leaved ones. If wanting a plant for your office, something like a spider plant absorbs electronic smog near machinery. According to Feng Shui you should avoid dried flowers and plants as they bring the aura of death into a home, they traditionally aren’t considered good Feng Shui, if you get a good feeling towards the dried flowers this doesn lessen the bad effect a little.
It’s OK to use silk flowers and plants because silk is a natural fibre and everlasting silk flowers and plants connect with the idea of eternal life. Though plastic ones obviously aren’t good Feng Shui.
Turning over a new leaf – Pallas Athena – through Nathan Ho
“Greetings Dear Ones. It comes to you like an incoming tide, sweeping you off your feet if you are unprepared, yet if you slow down and become aware of it, you understand within yourself and all around you, what you need to turn over. As this energy moves upon you, as part of the turn of the wheel, the yearly cycle, it comes to you to prompt you to investigate. To turn over a new leaf, wherever you are in the world, is to look at what you need to change, re-evaluate, redefine, release, renew, and embrace, in order to optimise the energetic movements of the year. One with great wisdom admits to the truths of their own strengths and weaknesses, and strives to make a better connection with both, for it is self-acceptance of both, that empower you and enable you to grow. To grow in one way, is to be free from the past, to improve upon it, and to create a better situation for yourself, for you are continuing to grow, expand, and change. To grow in another, is to look at what is before you, and see whether you are limiting yourself or to see if you can expand further. One does not simply stop learning once the destination is reached, nor does one’s mastery allow them to be complacent and reside into a stagnant space of mind. Understand what is bestowed upon you now, what is gifted before you, for the energy is ripe to start fresh and to literally turn over a new leaf, and to embrace the bountiful harvest in other areas of your life. Though with what you thought may not have worked out as you intended, is simply a way for the Universe to redirect you to something better, something unseen, fresh, and new. Be wise within yourself, in all knowing, being, seeing, thinking, and doing. You are a Divine master walking the road to an empowered, successful life in every direction. Blessings of the goddess.”

Astrology – by Michelle Oberdorf
Spotlight on: Pisces (February 19 – March 21)
From Wednesday February 19 until Friday March 21, 2014 we move into the time of year where the Sun will occupy the sign of Pisces. Pisces is one of the signs (along with Cancer and Scorpio) which is associated with the Water element concerning feelings, emotions, receptivity and moodiness. Some keywords for Pisces include: sensitivity, compassion, empathy, intuition, imagination, spirituality, gentleness and romanticism. Pisceans may be quite passive, and can become involved in victim/saviour relationships where they are the rescuer, sacrificing themselves for others. They are known as the mystics, poets and artists of the zodiac.
Pisces is ruled by the planet Neptune. Some keywords associated with Neptune include: spiritual transcendence, delusion, illusion, confusion, fantasy, human interconnectedness and “oneness”, universal love, dissolution of boundaries, idealism, escapism, drugs, evasiveness, and the imaginative and creative arts. Strong Neptunian types, or people with Neptune strong in their chart would likely display some of these tendencies (eg in Pisces, in the sign it rules, known as being “in Dignity”), Sun in Pisces, many personal planets in Pisces, or Neptune in the 12th house, the house on the zodiac wheel Pisces naturally represents if we start from the Autumn/Spring Vernal Equinox point of 0 degrees Aries. This is known as “Accidental Dignity”). In the body, Pisces rules the feet, and Neptune rules misdiagnoses, the lymphatic system, spinal fluid, the pineal gland, the thymus gland and the spleen.
Currently, Neptune is making its way through its home sign of Pisces for the next 14 years by transit for the first time in approximately 165 years. It has done so since 3 February 2012 and will reside there until its next ingress (entrance) into Aries on 26 January 2026. It is currently sitting at 04 degrees 46 minutes. Anyone with their Sun at this degree – ie having their birthday on 23 February or 5 days either side, or who have important angles (eg Ascendant, Midheaven) on or near this degree may feel the need to embark on a spiritual search and the desire to escape from mundane reality, as Neptune is the urge to surrender to something greater than oneself. It represents a transcendence of material and ego boundaries to merge with the collective universal spirit or to have a meaningful connection with the divine. Neptune is a soulful archetype which takes us into realms beyond this physical world.
Next month’s Spotlight is on Aries.

Meanings of Lapis Lazuli – by Trudie
Lapis Lazuli is a combination of lazurite, calcite, and pyrite, with small amounts of other minerals. Lapis Lazuli literally means “blue stone” from Latin and Persian or Arabic. Crystal Meanings, Metaphysical & Healing Properties Lore of Lapis Lazuli
Lapis is traditionally a stone of royalty. Whenever I think of it, the Lapiz Lazuli around the eyes of King Tut’s mask comes to mind. Truly royal!
Spiritual and Psychic Properties
Lapis Lazuli is said to help create and maintain a connection between the physical and celestial planes, creating a strong spiritual connection. This may be related to its property of assisting in contact with guardian spirits.
Intuitive and psychic awareness are energies Lapis Lazuli enhances and brings to the fore. As it is also a stone that helps with writing, it can also be used for automatic writing.
Lapis Lazuli is a manifestation stone. It is also an excellent meditation stone. Meditating on a goal or quality you wish to manifest can bring this strong manifestation energy in. It is also a powerful crystal for positive or white magic.
As a protection stone, Lapis Lazuli protects from psychic and physical attacks. It can be used in protection grids, worn, or carried to bring these protection energies. It can also be used for protection of an environment when placed in the four corners.
Mental and Emotional Properties
Lapis Lazuli is a stone of communication that can bring truthfulness, openness, and mental clarity. It is used to help you say just the right thing, as if by magic.
Mentally, Lapis Lazuli has helpful energy. It can bring mental and emotional virility and strengthen the mind. It also is said to enhance creativity. Its energy can help organize daily life as well as organizing and quieting a busy or restless mind. lessening confusion, and increasing concentration.
Strong emotional components of Lapis Lazuli are the strength and ability to overcome abuse issues, trauma, as well as depression and grief. Partly thi is due to its energy of bringing inner power and hope. This strong inner power can also build courage, confidence, and overcome shyness. Hope brings trust that things will work out in spite of past traumas. It also is used to decrease irritability, whether caused by trauma issues or day to day frustrations.
Dream work and dream recall are two mystical uses of Lapis Lazuli. It is said to bring the information from the dreams into daily life where it imparts wisdom.
Physical Conditions Properties
Lapis Lazuli is said in crystal healing to be helpful for a number of issues including sinus ailments, , headaches, nervous system, speech problems, pituitary gland, body strength, virility, pain relief, heart, immune system, RLS, spleen, bones, depression, epilepsy, seizures, eye and vertigo vision problems, sleep disorders including insomnia, fibromyalgia, feminine reproductive system including PMS, thyroid, RNA/DNA damage, and tuberculosis.
Related Chakras
