To make your dreams a reality – what are you willing to let go of?
What are you willing to let go of, in order to live the life you dream about? We all have dreams, and yet we all have excuses as well for not achieving them or living them. Far too many of us think that our dreams are unattainable.
Have you ever asked yourself what you are willing to let go of? How much to do you want that dream to be a reality?
Far too many people dream about a life that they aren’t living, and just continue to dream about it, which is rather sad, don’t you think?
Instead of looking at the life they have, analyzing it, then working out how to make it happen. The first step in making your dream a reality is to look at what you are willing to let go of, to make it happen. What excuses are you using that maybe, are just that, excuses.
They don’t sit down and ask what are you willing to let go of, instead they focus on their excuses.
That’s what they are by the way, excuses. Some, are legitimate and others are not.
All those things that are ‘stopping’ them from being able to live their dream life.
Whether that is fear holding them back, nothing like being able to blame ‘something or someone’ for not getting out of your comfort zone.
Or maybe, you genuinely haven’t asked yourself what you are willing to let go of so that those dreams can become a reality.
How do you do this?
Let me give you an example of someone that came for a reading once and the conversation that took place.
Me: Your dream is to take a year off and just travel around Australia in your caravan.
Client: Yes, but we can’t
Me: Why?
Client: We can’t afford to
Me: Why not?
Client: We both work full-time, have a mortgage etc.
Me: Ok, let’s break this down. Have you actually looked into whether your boss would give you an unpaid leave of absence for one year?
Client: No
Me: Your mortgage actually hasn’t got a lot left owing on it has it? Have you spoken to a real estate agent as to how much rent you could get for your property? Because the rent would cover the mortgage and associated costs
Client: No
Me: Have you worked out what kind of caravan you want and how much it will be?
Client: No
Me: Have you thought about incorporating it as a bit of a working holiday? Signing up to do relief work at motels or handyman things for people etc?
Client: No
See where I’m going here? While she had dreams, she’d never asked herself that all important question – What are you willing to let go of?
Far too many of us will automatically put up roadblocks when it comes to living our dream, without actually looking into the facts.
Whether that’s from fear – all those excuses are really good to tell ourselves so we don’t have to take a risk and it not work out.
Maybe, you haven’t actually asked yourself what you are willing to let go of when it comes to actually putting your dreams into fruition.
How important is your dream to you? When you ask yourself what you’re ready to let go of, are you really ready to let go of them?
If you’re not willing to let go of all those things that you put forward as excuses, that’s OK. Just remember that if you’re not willing to let go of all those things, your dream will never happen.
Again, how important is your dream to you?
Ask yourself, what are you willing to let go of ….. perfection? Job Security? A permanent home?
If you want to fulfil your dreams, you need to start now and by starting now, you need to ask yourself and be honest …. What are you willing to let go of?
